Josh

Hi I'm Josh, I started getting into fitness in my late teens and quickly discovered martial arts. From there I started training in kickboxing and Brazilian jiu jitsu after which, I started to compete all over the U.K and internationally.
Being in this environment meant I was always coming across training partners and friends with pains and injuries almost every week that would not only effect their training but also their life outside of it. After more time passed I slowly started to experience my own injuries and had to take time out of training. During this time I was always left wondering what I could do to recover quickly or if the injury could have been avoided in the first place. After working with a good sports masseur, I realised how effective these treatments could be in not only recovering faster, but also avoiding injury altogether. Once I started to get back into training I felt so much better and injuries became much rarer allowing me to focus on what I love doing without worry.

Meanwhile, I was working in the fitness industry and spoke to many gym members who also had several injures throughout their lives from long term running injuries to sore aching backs and many more. It was at this point I realised that I could help so many people from all different walks of life, who also had sporting goals, with sport massage. Therefore, I enrolled into a sport massage course at Loughborough University, one of the top sports universities in the country. Following that I was the head therapist for Blackstones F.C. and now currently the head therapist for the Icon jiu jitsu team.
Skye
Hi, I'm Skye. I'm a sports therapy student pursuing my fitness and sporting passion. From an early age I knew my life would always revolve around a sporting related job. I would go to career events with no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. I just knew it had to be something sport related.

Being a competitive gymnast for 10 years exposed me to many of the health struggles an athlete goes through. After considering how much an athlete can take a physical toll on someone, I decided I wanted to study sports science at college to get an insight into all aspects of the body and sport. I then progressed to Anglia Ruskin University studying sports therapy. I've been introduced to treating all different issues for everyone experiencing pain and not just for athletes, as well as working with individual clients with sporting and non sporting backgrounds. I have experience working at big sporting events including the London marathon.

Deep tissue massage
This is a much more in depth massage which is used to help prevent injuries, in order to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition. This also helps athletes recover from workouts and injuries as well as anyone from other walks of life releasing tension caused from our daily routines. This is an in depth session with firm pressure to really break down the muscle. It is not unusual to be sore for a couple days after a session. Home care advice will be provided as part of this service.
Myofascial cupping
Cupping has been around for centuries originating in eastern China. In recent times it is commonly used by sport persons and athletes. Cupping enables the therapist to pull up stagnate blood, underlying tissues and fluids to the surface of the skin by creating a suction. This stimulates the healing process stretching the tight fascia and skeletal muscle while increasing blood circulation and helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the target area.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a therapeutic relaxing massage treatment that works the soft tissues and muscles to help restore health, designed to relax the body and mind - creating a calming and balancing effect on the nervous system relieving stress. Home care advice is included as part of this service.
